Lack of importance for PHYSICAL EDUCATION IS INCREASING

Lack of importance for physical education is on the rise in London Primary school - in Catford, due to normal primary school teachers, teaching physical education instead of hiring sporting coaches.
Pupils who reap the benefits from PE lessons as stress relief due to struggling academically are affected. Administrative assistant said “For some children, it’s the only area they shine in”.

"Physical Education is just as important as core subjects like Maths. If an English teacher was to do maths lessons, there would be more controversy than if it was physical education".
Mental health problems in individuals has increased over the years due to more stressful lifestyles. 1 in 4 people in the UK will experience a mental health problem each year. PE has been proven to not only help the physical aspects in a child but the mental health side too. Participating in physical activity releases a hormone called serotonin, which makes an individual feel happier and more confident.

Although Ofsted reports on this school are ‘Good’, this school struggles to fund sporting opportunities for pupils due to lack of facilities and equipment, having said that; this teaches children at young ages the lack of importance for PE.

Regarding the location of the school, it's said that PE should be encouraged, which could help decrease crime in the area.
